Slice the potato lengthwise into thin strips approximately 1/4 inch thick, then cut those strips into 1/4 inch wide fries. (Using a mandolin can simplify this process).
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the potato pieces with the oil. Season generously with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper to your liking; mix well to ensure all pieces are coated.
Arrange the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they don’t overlap or crowd each other. Set the temperature to 380°F and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through until they reach a crispy texture.
Note: For those using a Cuisinart Toaster Style Fryer, adjust the temperature to 350°F and cook for 12 minutes.
