Ingredients

  • 3 cups about 4 peeled gala apples, sliced
  • 2/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • cooking spray
  • 3/4 cup dry quick-cooking oats
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp melted whipped butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp flour or cornstarch for gluten-free
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries

Instructions

  1. 1

Begin by setting your oven to 325°F (163°C) to preheat.

  2. 2

Prepare a 9-inch square baking dish by giving it a light coating of cooking spray.

  3. 3

In a mixing bowl, toss together the apples and cranberries with the remaining ingredients designated for the filling.

  4. 4

Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it out with the back of a spoon.

  5. 5

In a separate bowl, mix together the ingredients for the topping; then, evenly distribute this mixture over the apple and cranberry blend.

  6. 6

Place the dish in the oven and bake it uncovered for 55 to 60 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling. Enjoy while warm.
