Begin by heating your broiler. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil. Position the top rack so that it is 6 to 8 inches away from the heating element.
Clean the tilapia by rinsing it under cold water, then gently dry it using paper towels.
Season the fish with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and oregano. Place the seasoned fillets in the lined baking sheet in a single layer.
Sprinkle crushed garlic over the fish, drizzle with olive oil, and finish with a layer of breadcrumbs.
Set the broiler to a low setting and insert the baking sheet onto the rack. Cook the tilapia until the breadcrumbs turn a rich golden brown and the fish is cooked thoroughly, flaking easily when tested with a fork, which should take around 6 to 8 minutes depending on the thickness (watch closely to prevent burning). There's no need to flip the fish during cooking.
Serve your dish with lemon wedges and a side of your preferred vegetables.
