Ingredients

  • 15 ounce can chickpeas
  • 1 teaspoon dried spices of your choice
  • Extra virgin olive oil spray

Equipment Needed

  • Air Fryer (I love this pretty white one from AllCool)
  • Colander

Instructions

  1. 1

Rinse the chickpeas in a colander, then place them on a plate that is lined with paper towels.

  2. 2

Allow the chickpeas to dry thoroughly.

  3. 3

Place the chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single, even layer and set the temperature to 380°F. Cook for approximately 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes, until they achieve a crunchy texture on the inside and a golden-brown exterior.

  4. 4

Once cooked, transfer the hot chickpeas to a medium-sized bowl, generously spray with olive oil, and promptly toss with your chosen spices. These can be enjoyed at room temperature as a snack or sprinkled over your favorite salad.

Notes & Tips

  • Seasoning Ideas:
  • You can use whatever spices you want for these crispy chickpeas. They are a blank canvas, so get creative! Here are some ideas:
  • Tip for crunchy chickpeas: It’s important to start with dry chickpeas or they won't get crisp and if they do, they won't stay crisp. Dry them well on paper towels, then if time permits leave them out an hour to hour dry before cooking.
  • Storage: Store chickpeas in a jar at room temperature up to a week. If leftover chickpeas get soft you can pop them back in the air fryer 2 to 3 minutes to crisp them back up.
