Grilled Cumin Spiced Pork Tenderloin

This simple Grilled Cumin Spiced Pork Tenderloin is an ideal choice for warm summer evenings. I begin by applying a swift and zesty rub to the meat before placing it on the grill. As it sizzles away for about 30 minutes, I whip up a fresh salad, and soon enough, dinner is served!

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pork tenderloin
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix the spices together thoroughly, then rub the blend evenly over the entire surface of the tenderloin.

  2. 2

Set your grill to high heat, or if you prefer, preheat your broiler to high.

  3. 3

Cook the tenderloin on the grill or under the broiler, covered, for 5 minutes per side on high. If grilling, after the initial sear, shift the meat to indirect heat, cover the grill, and continue cooking for an additional 10 to 12 minutes, flipping it halfway through. The pork is ready when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 145°F* (approximately 22 to 25 minutes in total). For a thicker cut, increase the cooking time as needed.

  4. 4

Allow the pork to rest for about 5 minutes before slicing it.

Notes & Tips

  • *Some people suggest taking pork off around 140°F. I prefer 145F so it's a little pink in the center. The USDA health recommendations say that pork should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F. You can adjust this temperature to your own tastes and comfort level, especially if you know the pork is fresh.
