In a sizable pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until it reaches an al dente texture.
Before draining, set aside approximately 1/2 cup of the cooking liquid. Drain the orzo using a colander, then return the empty pot to the stove and add the oil.
Heat the oil and sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute, or until it becomes aromatic. Incorporate the zucchini and tomatoes, seasoning with salt and pepper. Stir well and continue cooking until the vegetables are tender, approximately 3 to 4 minutes.
Add the drained orzo to the vegetable mixture, stirring to blend everything together. If the pasta appears dry, gradually mix in some of the reserved cooking liquid until the desired consistency is achieved.
Finally, sprinkle in freshly grated cheese and mix thoroughly until it is well combined.
