Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • fresh parsley
  • 1 ½ pounds shrimp

Instructions

  1. 1

Use paper towels to gently dry the shrimp, which will help achieve a proper sear.

  2. 2

Season the shrimp with salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes, tossing to evenly coat.

  3. 3

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ½ tablespoon of olive oil or butter and allow it to heat until it shimmers. Arrange half of the shrimp in a single layer in the skillet.

  4. 4

Cook the shrimp without moving them for approximately 1-2 minutes, until they begin to turn pink and develop a golden crust on the underside. Flip the shrimp and continue cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until they are fully cooked through. The shrimp should appear opaque and have a lovely sear.

  5. 5

Remove the cooked shrimp to a plate and repeat the process with the remaining shrimp and another ½ tablespoon of oil.

  6. 6

Once the second batch is finished, return the first batch to the skillet and toss to mix. Take the skillet off the heat. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp and toss to coat them in the flavorful sauce.

  7. 7

Carefully remove the shrimp from the skillet and place them onto a serving platter. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges alongside.
