Begin by heating your oven to 425°F (220°C). Prepare a rimmed baking sheet by lining it with either parchment paper or aluminum foil to simplify cleanup.
In a small mixing bowl, blend together mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and your choice of herbs until well combined.
Lay the salmon fillet, skin side down, on the prepared baking sheet. Cover the salmon with another sheet of parchment or foil. Bake the salmon partially for 8 minutes.
Take the baking sheet out of the oven and carefully peel away the top layer of parchment paper.
Generously spread the Parmesan herb mixture over the top of the salmon.
Place the salmon back in the oven without the cover and continue baking until the topping is golden brown and the fish flakes easily when tested with a fork.
Check the internal temperature of the salmon with a meat thermometer; it should read 135°F (57°C). The total baking time should be approximately 15 to 18 minutes for a fillet that is 1 ½ inches thick, adjusting the time as necessary for different thicknesses.
