Ingredients

  • 1 6-8 pound fully cooked spiral sliced ham
  • cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 navel orange
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • ½ cup honey

Instructions

  1. 1

Begin by setting your oven temperature to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

In a small mixing bowl, combine honey, orange juice, orange zest, mustard, and cloves. Whisk everything together until well blended.

  3. 3

Arrange the orange slices in a single layer at the bottom of a baking dish or roasting pan. Position the ham on top of the oranges, ensuring the cut side is facing down. Drizzle one-third of the glaze over the ham. Cover the dish securely with aluminum foil. Bake the ham for 12 minutes for each pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

  4. 4

Once the ham is done baking, carefully take it out of the oven and peel off the foil. Increase the oven setting to broil.

  5. 5

Using tongs and a spatula, gently flip the ham so that the fat side is facing up. If the ham starts to spread apart too much, crumple a piece of foil and place it against the ham to help hold it together. Pour the remaining glaze generously over the ham. Place the uncovered ham back in the oven for an additional 3-5 minutes, until it becomes caramelized and golden brown. Watch it closely, as broiler temperatures can vary and it may caramelize quickly.

  6. 6

Remove the ham from the oven and baste it thoroughly with the juices collected in the bottom of the pan. Transfer the ham to a serving platter and accompany it with the remaining pan juices.
