Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • cooking spray
  • 2 5 ounce sirloin steaks, 1” thick
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 teaspoon aji sesame oil
  • 1/4 large white onion
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 2 6 oz total 2-inch thick broccoli stems, spiralized
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice

Instructions

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, blend the hoisin sauce, orange juice, and soy sauce using a whisk until well combined. Set aside. Immerse the sirloin steaks in the marinade, then cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

  2. 2

As the steaks marinate, fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Using a wire basket, add the broccoli and let it cook for approximately 3 to 4 minutes at a gentle boil to blanch. Once done, transfer the broccoli to an ice water bath to halt the cooking process. Allow it to sit in the ice water for a few minutes until fully chilled.

  3. 3

Take the marinated steak out of the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 5 minutes before cooking. Remove the steaks from the marinade, making sure to keep the marinade for later use.

  4. 4

Preheat a medium-sized nonstick sauté pan over high heat. Once hot, spray with cooking oil, then place the steaks in the pan. Sear for 3 minutes on each side for a medium-rare finish. After cooking, transfer the steaks to a cutting board.

  5. 5

Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low, and bring it to a boil. Allow it to simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.

  6. 6

While the steaks are cooking, add sesame oil to a large nonstick skillet. Toss in the onions, garlic, and ginger, and sauté on high for 1 to 2 minutes. Introduce the broccoli noodles, season with salt, and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Add the blanched broccoli and stir until heated through.

  7. 7

Plate the zoodles onto two individual dishes. Slice the steak into thin strips on the cutting board. Arrange the beef over the noodles, drizzle with the sauce, and serve.
