Preheat a large nonstick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once it reaches the desired temperature, pour in the oil, then add the garlic and chili, sautéing until aromatic, which should take about 30 seconds.
Raise the heat to high and incorporate the chicken, stirring frequently until it is fully cooked, approximately 4 minutes. Toss in the basil and cook until it is wilted, about 1 minute.
